At the end of 2019, Covid-19 has quickly spread and become a global pandemic, leading to political,
economic, and social consequences. The transportation and tourism industry has become one of the
most adversely affected industries by the Covid-19 pandemic due to the implementation of lockdown,
travel restrictions as well as suspension of domestic and international flights. This study examines the
impact of Covid-19 on the financial performance of transportation and tourism using the method of
ratio analysis. The research sample of the study covers the companies that operate in the transportation
and tourism industry and listed in the Borsa Istanbul (BIST) Transportation and Tourism Index. The
study results show that Covid-19 has a significant impact on the financial ratios of transportation and
tourism companies, except for liquidity ratios. According to the research findings, while Covid-19 has
increased the companies’ financial risks, it has led to a sharp decrease in profitability.
